Obtaining A PPL - Getting Over Your Worries
The one thing holding lots of people back from obtaining their PPL is fear.

Fears are expected. All of us possess them. Some of us won't even admit to them, but we have them. And when we choose to do anything out of the ordinary, it can be an exciting moment. But with that exhilaration frequently comes fear. The reason, the leading reason...fear of failure.

Reflect back to when you got your driver's license. Did you fail the very first time? If you did I expect you will recall what that felt like. If you looked up the word "down" in the dictionary, you would have seen a photograph of yourself right next to the definition.

The fear of failure is among the most horrible feelings in the world. No one likes failing.

Granted this short article has not made you feel very good thus far, but let's take a look at how to deal with this dread.

But as awful as this fear is, there are methods to overcome it.

1. Reflect on The Missed Opportunity.

Pretend for a second that you really need  to fly, but your fear of taking the examination stops you from doing what you really want. Now picture your life if you cannot do the single thing that you really love. There's got to be a reason you would like to fly in the first place. If you can stay focused on the main reason why you will find your fears slowly fade into the background.

2. Take a good look at the different alternatives

If you don't have your PPL, then what. Well for starters you will turn into a frequent flyer on commercial airlines. Your timetable of where you wish to be and when is going to be dependant on their schedule. You will be at the mercy of others. The alternatives to flying your own airplane, if you do not want to depend on commercial airlines, are driving, train, bus and even boat. If that is not very appealing to you, focus on it. See how briskly you recover from your fear of failure then.

3. Contemplate the worst case scenario and put it in perspective.

Consider what occurs in the event you fail the private pilot license examination. What can happen next that is so bad you can't overcome it? There is no law that says you can't try another time. You can always take the test an additional time. This is not a case of one and done. There would be a whole lot of people not flying or even driving if that were the case. If you don't pass the test, so what. At worse, you need to wait just a little longer to get your PPL.

4. Recognize The Advantages Of Failure

When we fail at anything, we learn something. You find out what it is you did wrong and get a chance to improve it. It's undoubtedly better to fail then to get yourself killed since you were not quite prepared to fly.

5. Get your Contingency Plan Set

Know what you are going to do next even if you do fail. Before you even take the examination you need to be ready to get additional flight time and take extra lessons just in case. Failing doesn't suggest you ought to give up.

6. Be an Action Taker

Leaping in and taking action will help you eliminate your fear quicker than anything else. Procrastination however will only make you more fearful to the point where you can become paralyzed and not take the examination.

7. Learn From The Ancient Greeks

In ancient times, Greeks would burn their boats so that they had no option but to move onward. They couldn't circle back. Whatever it takes for you to burn your boat, you need to do it. If that means picking up the telephone and scheduling your examination, do it. Do not look back.

If you want to make your private pilot training simpler and easier you'll want to have the proper tools. And there's computer software existing which will make studying for the PPL exam easier. You'll find out more by visiting http://www.privatepilottraining.net

Finally Some Warmth

After two days of single digit nighttime temperatures we finally got a little warmth today. The temperature hit the 50's. It may not sound like much but it sure put me in a summer state of mind.

It seems crazy to think about the beach when it's only 50 but that's what I was doing. I was thinking about all the sexy one piece bathing suits that are coming into fashion. Yes I like them better than bikinis, although admittedly all womens bathing suits can look great. I was thinking about snow white sand. I was thinking about the smell of suntan lotion and the warm waves. I really do like the beach.

Oh well, just a few more months and those thoughts will become a reality. I can't wait.

But hopefully you've done a little homework as well. And that means making sure the toys are safe for your kids, especially if your children happen to be toddlers.

So before you run out and buy the top 10 toys for Christmas consider these points.

Are there parts small enough to present a choking hazard?

Are there any sharp edges? Toddlers love to put things in their mouth and they also will run with their toys. Sharp edges are a definite no.
